£9,649.16
This tribute page is in memory of Norma McCleary (nee Guffick) who died on the 13th of December 2011 after an amazingly brave 4 year struggle with triple negative breast cancer. Norma's wish was for there to be more awareness of this type of cancer and we ask all of you to help us raise money for more research to be carried out.
Norma was a truly inspirational, brave and courageous woman who was a much loved wife, mother, granny, sister and friend. She was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in November 2007 and underwent various treatments with challenging side effects but fought it with great dignity always with a positive outlook on life. She amazed people with her ability to smile even on the hardest of days and continued with her day to day life even during the worst of her treatment.
Norma was an exceptional woman and loved spending time with her dogs and grandchildren. She was a very sociable person always the life and soul of the party! her most treasued memories were at her beloved caravan at Luce Bay in Scotland looking out onto the sea.
Triple negative breast cancer affects one in six wommen with breast cancer in the UK around 8,000 people each year. Triple negative breast cancer tends to be more aggressive than other forms of breast cancer, they can also be very difficult to treat because they dont have hormone receptors therefore they dont respond to targeted therapies or hormone treatments. This year breakthrough opened a research unit at Kings College London dedicated to improving the treatment of triple negative breast cancer and its close relation, basal-like breast cancer.
We would love if you could join us in supporting this research in memory of Norma in the hope that others may benefit.
Please consider making an online donation or light a candle for Norma. We will all be involved in various things throughout the year to raise as much money as we can so look out for that!!!
All money raised on these pages will be earmarked as being donations made via this tribute fund and goes directly to research into triple negative breast cancer.
Thankyou for taking the time to read this. We know times are hard but any small donation that you give will be very much appreciated. Norma is missed everyday by family and friends but she would want us to keep fighting in the hope that one life may be saved or prolonged with our help.
Thanks
