In memory of Lucy-Jane Tammadge

1978 - 2015

So far we have raised

£52,955.17

The Tammadge Family & friends launched the Lucy-Jane Tammadge Appeal in support of the charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer in the determination that the pain we have now will one day not be inflicted on others.

Our beloved Lucy was sadly taken from us at the age of 37 after a hard-fought battle against breast cancer. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her for her courageous spirit, determination, wicked sense of humour & always smiling face.

In memory of Lucy, we would like to raise money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer to support them in their work to stop breast cancer for good by improving early diagnosis, developing new treatments and preventing all types of breast cancer.

The appeal was first founded in July 2015 using a crowd funding platform that closed in November 2021. During that period there were donations of £48,588.67. The comments donors made can be scrolled in the message below of 21st November 2021. In addition Lucy’s work colleague and friend Mellisa Beeko raised £1,126.25 in a sponsored run at the London Olympic Stadium. That was 225% of target. Go, Go Beeko! We shouted.

Thanks also to Tracy Higgs, a ‘very special person’ who helped Lucy’s family and helped raise some of the donations.

Thinking of you today Luce with so much love and gratitude for your beautiful friendship, for your constant ability to spotlight the precious necessity of living life to the full, and of making memories that last.

Every one of our shared memories replays in my heart often. I think of you each time I look up at the night sky too, and more recently with Donna Ashworth’s words in mind. Her poem “You” always makes me think of the map you left behind, your glitteringly beautiful network of stars ... one for every single person who loved you, every single person you were kind to, every person you made laugh, and every person you inspired along the way.

What a stunning imprint you left in all our hearts, one that will never be forgotten. Every person who was lucky enough to love you, became a better person for having you in their life.

Until we meet again, rest gently dear heart.xxx

We’re here on Mersea as always on this date. We will sit on your memorial bench today and think of the years you were with us Lucy-Jane. As we look across Shell Beach we will remember you playing here with Suzy and your bucket and spades, so excited to be by the seaside.
You then metamorphosised later in life from our children to our best friends. We also unwittingly transformed from your teachers to your pupils as we learnt from you the meaning of life. We are so sorry we have also had to learn to live without you Lucy. We still love you and miss you and always will.

Dear Lucy

The 15th May
a day I now dread,
Because you had to leave this world
with no goodbyes said.

As another year passes
today marks a decade,
10 years without your friendship
no new memories made.

My life with you will remain the same
with it being paused at just 37,
But my life on earth has changed so much
in the 10 years since you went to heaven.

You never met my daughter
as you left before she was born,
But your name takes pride of place in hers
to keep it alive rather than to mourn.

I do believe you would approve
our bakery being named after you,
So Lucy Jane is spoken every day
and you’re still with me in all that I do.

No words I write can truly explain
the hurt of losing a best friend,
But when it’s time to meet again
that missing piece will mend.

But for now I hope that you still know
how much you mean to me,
And even though you are not here
my best friend you’ll always be.

It is not just your close family that miss you Lucy. We often think about you, talk of you and miss you very much as well. When you were here we were many miles apart, we are sorry to be further from you now.
