In memory of Hilary Darvill
1948 - 2010
Hilary was the youngest of four children - the only girl. At the age of 19 she met my father. She married him at 20. She had four children Kim (me) twins Chris and Nick and finally at the age of 40 had Alex. In October 2001 she found a lump. What followed were years of uncertainty. When she was first diagnosed she said to me all she wanted to do was to see the youngest Alex through University. She gentle and calm and faced every new diagnosis with strength and positivity. In September 2008 to celebrate her 60th birthday she and my Dad went to Borneo for a trip of a lifetime. She was taken ill and flown home to be told that she had six months to live. She made more than that and on 25 March 2010 she passed peacefully at 10.17 on a sunny morning at home with her husband, me and one of her sons at her side. Her funeral was a beautiful Spring day with daffodils everywhere. They always remind me of her ( her favourite colour was yellow ). She would be proud of her family now. There have been many situations since where she has been greatly missed - Alex's graduation, the birth of two more granddaughters and my wedding. I miss her terribly but now when I think of her I smile. I find myself saying the same things she said to me to my daughter. What a great legacy x
