There are many, many wonderful memories of Diane, but they rightly reside in the minds of her family, friends and colleagues. For those, reading these words, let them stir the memories and bring a smile.

For others, who never met her, know that she gained much understanding of her condition from the information posted on this website and secured considerable support and friendship from those she came to know through its chat-rooms.

Your donations have helped research make great progress over the last year and we're looking back on some of the headlines from 2016. Thank you for all your incredible support - read more about the research you've made possible at http://bit.ly/2hHXTl9

I'm sure by now you've seen me talk about running on Facebook - well, here's what I'm training for. One of my closest friends, Lauren, and her sister, Charlie, lost their mum Diane to breast cancer. I'll be running the GNR in Diane's memory this year, and I want to raise as much as possible for Breast Cancer Care, who helped Diane so much during her illness

Raised at a day of activities at the Lakeside Centre, Killingworth, the central theme of which was this - the Shirt of Hurt. 'Magpies' and 'Mackems' coming together in the name of charity and proving to the world what sport can really achieve. Diane would have thoroughly approved and laughed along with us. 'Mackems' in black and white and 'Magpies' (+ one 'Smoggie') in red and white, along with face paint and dyed hair in some cases! Plenty of good natured banter was exchanged and lots of money raised in sponsorship on the back of it. Thanks to all who contributed in the many, many ways necessary to ensure the success of an event like this. You are all stars!
