In memory of Dian Elzakkers and Jopie Garvie
Mum had a long, full and happy 80 years of life. She fought breast cancer for 20 years and won her battle. I am much of who I am today because of her, she is my guardian angel.
Dian was very brave and I am very proud of my wee sister. We became very close during the latter part of her illness and I will never forget her optimism right to the end. Sadly she passed away at the age of 52.
Six months later I was diagnosed with breast cancer too and some of the decisions I had to make were based on how she coped with the disease. I had bilateral mastectomies in 2010 and still undergoing reconstruction surgery.
I miss my mum and sister dearly , they are my inspiration and their spirit and strength lives on in the lives that they touched. I have set up this tribute in their memory in the hope that together we can help others beat it!
