In memory of Anne Konishi

Our wonderful, funny, darling Anne died in March 2015 at only 43 years old. Anne was diagnosed with breast cancer after finding a lump in her breast when she was only 40. When her cancer was first diagnosed, it had already spread to her liver - she was already stage IV - and she was given the devastating news that her illness was terminal. This was only three months after a clear mammogram.

After a year of treatment, it was then discovered that Anne had Triple Negative Breast Cancer. This news was shattering; at the time of Anne's diagnosis there were very limited treatments for TNBC.

Treatment for Anne was pretty much non stop chemo from the offset and in the end her liver couldn't cope with the treatment any more and chemo was stopped.

Shortly after this Anne died.

Anne spoke passionately about the lack of options for girls like her, she believed the Pink Campaign had done a great job of making us all breast cancer aware - but that it was now time for funds to be directed to research for cure and prevention.

Anne helped many of us understand that her and her many fellow triple negative friends needed more funding specifically injected into TNBC projects. Research that would ultimately result in better chances of longer term survival for women like them.

In memory of Anne, we are working with Breast Cancer Now who are funding multiple dedicated TNBC research projects. All funds raised here will be restricted to research that includes triple negative breast cancer research.

When we started this fund in May 2015, we aimed to raise £10,000. With the enormous support from Anne's friends and family, and from many others who heard her story, this fund now sits in excess of £70,000. We cannot express our gratitude for all everyone has done to support our ongoing fundraising - thank you.

We have moved Anne's fundraising management to Breast Cancer Now following the closure of Virgin Giving in November 2021. The full amount we raised on the Virgin page is included in this new fundraising page.

We will always continue to raise funds in Anne's memory and for all those women who are living with TNBC now, and for all those who are sadly yet to be diagnosed.

Anne left behind her much loved little girl Christina, who was only six when she lost her Mummy.

Please help us to do this in Anne's memory for all the girls of the future.

Thank you.

Julie, Dave, Ben, Joyce & George, with an even bigger thank you from Christina.
